- Excella tolerates children. she’s not especially protective of them, or interested in them, but when she crosses paths with one she tries to not, you know, actively crush them under her designer heels.
- People assume Excella is cheap and tacky, or a ‘dumb whore.’ This woman is perfectly high fashion and keeps very careful watch and control of everything about herself and other people, that includes how you view her until she chooses to strike
- Excella writes sensitive information down in a small notepad kept on her person at all times. it is not on any database, in any iPhone, or even written in English. in fact, it is written in a shorthand she herself developed when taking notes back in university at the age of 14. her cursive handwriting only serves to further confuse anyone who gets a hold of it, before their untimely death, after all.
- Excella is by no means a ‘hands-off’ CEO. you will find her in the startlingly state-of-the-art laboratories with a lab coat over her Alexander McQueen dress and brushing the rim of her Prada heels just as often as you will find her shmoozing with people in various global Governments.
- Excella is vocal beyond words against skewing findings and data in scientific studies. she refuses to cherry pick or slant data, and often fires scientists found out doing so. why? because she values perfection, and you cannot perfect a thing if you don’t first find out its flaws.
- When she was a lot younger, Excella was a gifted pianist. Despite not losing that talent, she has found other uses for her time and thus doesn’t play very often anymore. This doesn’t stop her from owning a grand piano, of course, which is on display in one of her apartments in Veneto.
- When people don’t understand Italian she gets unduly annoyed. Excella spends so much time around people who know between ‘enough’ and 'fluency’ that to be confronted by someone who looks at her blankly when she speaks makes her irrationally wish to reach her hand out and snap their throat.
It’s petty, but she honestly has little patience or time, and finds it easier and quicker to converse in rapid-fire Italian than English. [A clumsy language, no soul.] She's very much a proud Italian at heart.
Religion
Drawing on the canon of Jessica’s Report, which has some of [a] The best and [b] The only characterisation of Excella in canon that’s outside of Wesker, Excella can pinpoint Bible verses:
Jessica: He prefers to stay behind the scenes. He always says, “let not your left hand know what your right hand does.” Excella: “Matthew 6:3” from the Bible. The motive to seek fame is impure in itself.
I find this really interesting, because Excella doesn’t seem the type to believe in a higher power than herself judging her, or watching out for her. The predominant religion in Italy, however, is of course Catholicism. So it is exceptionally likely that Excella was at least brought up in a religious household, thus the knowledge of the Bible verses and [I headcanon] a few left over exclamations/curses [“Holy Mary, Mother of God” ect.]
I feel like, although familiar with many religions, they never really stuck with Excella herself. She would have been told often that she was a gift from God, or that her looks and intelligence were gifts from God, but she would never have thought that true. She was her own gift to her chosen field [Genetic Engineering], she was her own gift to anyone who she allowed her attention, her looks were genetic and her intelligence was nurtured.
Lapsed Catholic, if we’re going to be specific.
Love - Platonic & Romantic
Excella doesn’t love easily. She can maintain a surface level of mild fondness for various people for various reasons, sure, the same way a nursery school teacher looks with mild fondness at the small, uneducated, paste-eating children under her care.
She can become attracted, certainly. Platonic attraction isn’t especially difficult to garner from Excella, a sharp intellect and keen business acumen are enough to get her interested in allying herself with someone. Even beginning a sort of careful friendship if they’re all that and on the same side of the law as her [see: Alexia Ashford].
I headcanon her sexuality as Bi/Pan, but Demiromantic. Excella uses sex as a tool to get certain people under her control, but she isn't attracted to them. It takes intelligence, business sense, and a certain something about their personality to get Excella attracted.
Her relationship with Wesker is/was based on the history between them and the way they see something in one another. He noticed her drive and talents, helped her and challenged her to claw her way up the ladder until she owned the company she was completely capable of handling. She noticed his goals and intelligence, becoming trusted enough to vaccinate him daily with a concoction she herself cultured.
Basically: build immense trust over time, have ridiculous amounts of intelligence, somehow gain her respect and admiration, be brilliant at business, have a good give-and-take thing going when it comes to affection, don't expect her to make you the center of her world, and she may make space in her heart for you.
She will never make you the number one thing on Earth to her, but you will never be in doubt that you mean more to her than anyone else, she'd tear countries to the ground if you were in trouble.
